JOHN STULL’S CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Dear church family,

This Saturday there will be a Celebration of Life for John Stull at 12:00 pm at Palm Valley Church’s Goodyear campus (431 N Litchfield Rd, Goodyear, AZ 85338). If you can attend, the Stulls will welcome you as they celebrate John’s life. If you cannot attend in person, you can view the live stream of the service on our Youtube channel. The stream is set to begin at 11:50am. If there are technical difficulties, please check back to this page for alternatives.

Due to some timing restrictions, there will not be a reception at the church following the service. There may be some time for informal greeting while at Palm Valley Church, but if not, Chris and Brenna plan to attend Wellspring’s worship service on Sunday morning.

In lieu of flowers, the Stulls are requesting donations to the 25 Project. John was a personal supporter of children in Africa through this ministry and participated in mission trips through them. If you give, there’s a way to mark your giving in memory of John.

updates on john stull

May 7, 3:22pm

Dear church family,

As of just a few minutes ago, John Stull is now in the eternal presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ.

The sadness of John leaving his earthly body is immense. Yet at the same time, the hope the Stulls and we hold, that John is “in Christ,” is powerful! Chris, Brenna, and John’s siblings were with John at the time of his death.

Right now, the Stulls have asked for our prayers. In the days to come, there will be more for us to do. As a Church (both Wellspring and the many others who care deeply for the Stulls and make up a worldwide Church), we’ll keep you updated as to what’s next: how to care for the Stulls, memorial arrangements, and more. For the time being, we’ll continue to use the same communication channels to update you on these things.

Chris and Brenna are experiencing God-given peace. That’s through His grace, and in all the ways you’ve been loving them.

In Christ,

Wellspring Church

Psalm 118:24 (NKJV) — This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Please join the Stulls in prayer as they meet with doctors regarding critical life issues today.

Continue to pray for John – for physical healing throughout. Specifically, for brain function to improve & for consciousness. We are asking God for a Lazarus miracle, a life-giving work in John’s body.

Join the Stulls as they believe, pray, and trust God for John’s complete wholeness today.

Pray for Chris, Brenna, and each of their children to know the peace of God in a powerful way as they focus on the goodness and faithfulness of God.

“In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: ‘We have a strong city; he sets up salvation as walls and bulwarks. Open the gates, that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in. You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.’”

May 6, 3:35pm

Medically, there is no news to report this afternoon. Please see this morning’s post for specific prayer requests for John.

The family this afternoon expressed gratefulness for your prayers, generosity, and messages—they’re all making a difference.

May 6, 8:30am

John remains in critical condition. The Stulls are walking through each moment with deep dependence on God’s grace.

John is surrounded by family and close friends, and they are asking for continued prayer as they face the realities of critical life care.

They are overwhelmed with gratitude for the love, support, and care being shown—it means more than words can express.

They ask for continued prayer, specifically for healing of John’s brain. They are trusting God to move powerfully—to bring healing and life according to His sovereign will, His perfect plan, and His great purpose.

May 5, 2:50pm

Working with Chris and Brenna, our (Wellspring Church) plan moving forward is to update this page twice daily with updates on behalf of the Stulls. They want to update everyone so you can pray effectively. Right now, the best way for that to happen is for them to communicate new information to us, so we can post here. We’ll seek to provide updates twice daily (with a goal of posting each day before 11am and again by 6pm). If there is anything time sensitive beyond these updates, we will of course get those out as soon as we can. We will use our Wellspring email and text lists to provide a link to updates, but if you’re not on these distribution lists, just check this web page for the most updated information.

You can, of course, reach out to the Stulls directly to express prayers and encouragement. They love receiving them, but they may not be able to reply to each message. In most cases, expect updates on John’s health to come via these website updates.

Nothing notable has changed since this morning’s update. Chris and Brenna continue to be briefed by physicians and are working to understand what are the next steps for John’s care what are the markers for his improvement.

Chris and Brenna are faithful in prayer and fully trust in God—let’s join them in this praying and trusting!

May 5, 8:52am

Dear Wellspring Church family and those joining us in prayer,

John remains in critical condition. Yet, there was an encouraging development last night, when John for the first time had a physical response—squeezing his brother’s hand on request! Both his heart and lungs are trending in the right direction and we continue to pray for their healing and for his other organs. The medical team was able to lower his oxygen to 65%, which is a 35% improvement from day one. The swelling of the brain is decreasing, relieving built-up pressure.

The Stulls report, “God is giving us peace beyond measure and description,” and they’re “overwhelmed by the love expressed to John and our family.”

The number one prayer need right now is for neurological response. We want to see continued signs of improving health and response. Please continue praying for God’s miraculous healing of John and for comfort and peace of the whole Stull family.

May 4, 3:55pm

Dear Wellspring Church family and others who are joining us in prayer,

As we told our congregation this morning, John Stull (the youngest of our Pastor Chris’ and Brenna’s sons who attends college in NM), was in a single vehicle accident last night. He was one of four passengers in the vehicle (we understand the other passengers had no or limited injuries). John was care-flighted to El Paso. John remains in critical condition. As of this afternoon, we are praying for John’s consciousness, and that his body responds to the treatment. While there are ongoing assessments, it’s the first 24-48 hours that are critical in assessing neurological and other major organs and their health.

Chris and one of his other sons were able to make it to El Paso early this morning and be there with John. And earlier today, Brenna and Mari were able to fly there and join them. John’s other siblings are working to travel there as well.

The Stulls count on our prayers. As we learn information, we will use email and post to our website to update you. Thank you for being the church for our Pastor and his family.
